Your Dental Care With Integrity

Jenna Ward

Bachelor of Oral Health 2012, University of Otago

Originally from Dunedin I have returned to Aotearoa after practicing in Australia for the past 3 years.

Being dual qualified in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy, I am committed to my role in managing and maintaining individuals oral heath ; specifically the soft tissues (gums) and general dentistry for children, with a focus on both education and prevention. I take great pride in providing high quality hygiene therapy to clients ranging from simple routine recall appointments, right through to severe periodontal cases (with and without collaborating with the local Periodontist/Specialist).

What should I expect from my hygiene appointment?
At our clinic I will

  • Assess or re-assess gum health and your homecare routines
  • Remove hard plaque 'clean and polish'
  • Administer local anaesthetic as painlessly as possible if required with the help of a numbing gel prior to numbing the area
  • Work with you on practical tools and techniques that you can implement at home to control damaging dental plaque and improve your oral health

I will endeavour to complete a clean in one appointment, however in some cases it is not possible and more than one appointment may be required.

I aim to always provide high quality dental care in a non-threatening environment, to convey empathy and compassion towards individuals especially children and take pride in managing and reassuring anxious individuals. I constantly strive to improve my clinical skills and knowledge. I enjoy being involved in dentistry and feel the greatest satisfaction when treating patients and providing them with the information and skills to take control of their dental needs and overall health.

I am excited to be back in New Zealand and keen to get outdoors and explore everything Tauranga has to offer, particularly paddle boarding and hiking.

If you are a new patient you will need to first book a dental examination with one of our dentists who will assess your gum health and then refer you to our hygienist for treatment if required.
